The 2021 MLB All-Star game is happening Tuesday night in Colorado and after a year without a midsummer classic, this one should be a lot of fun.
Tuesday night, this is the only show in town in terms of live sports to bet on. The NBA Finals start back up Wednesday and all other major professional sports in the US are either in the offseason or have the night off. The National League has a slight advantage on the moneyline here, though recent history would give people pause on taking the NL. In seven straight All-Star Games, the AL has came out on top. Without a game last season, that streak dates all the way back to 2013. They also boast an all-time ASG record of 45-32-2.
The AL was hoping to have Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout on the same roster, but Trout will be sidelined due to injury. Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins moved into the starting lineup in his place.
The NL suffered a tough loss this past week as one of their biggest stars, Ronald Acuna Jr., went down with an ACL injury over the weekend. It’s extremely unfortunate and that’s some serious star power and production gone from the National League roster.
In terms of the run total, All-Star Games tend to skew low scoring, just because of the extreme pitching talent both squads have. However, this one could be different just because of the setting. The Mile High City is known for its thin air and Coors Field has been a pitcher’s worst nightmare since the day it opened. The pitching in this game will still be lights out, but even the smallest mistakes will cost them dearly Tuesday night. The over could be a good play here.
