The PGA Tour is headed across the pond for the final major of the 2021 season — the 149th Open Championship. This year, the British Open is taking place at the Royal St. George’s Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent in the UK. It’s the No. 1 ranked course in England and is hosting the tournament for the 15th time in its history.
The 2020 British Open was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which leaves Irish golfer Shane Lowry as the defending champion. He won the 2019 tournament by a six-stroke margin over Tommy Fleetwood. This year, Jon Rahm (+700) enters as the favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook — currently ranking third among golfers in FedEx Cup points. He’s followed by Jordan Spieth (+1400), Brooks Koepka (+1600), and the trio of Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, and Dustin Johnson (+1800). 2019 champ, Lowry, and the runner-up, Fleetwood, are both at +4000 to win the 2021 British Open.
The tournament gets underway on Thursday with tee times starting at 1:35 a.m. ET — 6:35 a.m. locally. Coverage for the first round of the 2021 Open Championship will span from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET on the Golf Channel. Peacock will also be airing coverage, including featured groups from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET and featured holes (14-16) from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET.
