The junior middleweight division is on display Saturday, July 17th and we could have our first undisputed champion Winky Wright held the crown in 2004. Jermell Charlo faces Brian Castano at the AT&T Center in San Antonio with all four major championships and The Ring title on the line.
The Charlo vs. Castano title fight is set to broadcast on Showtime, with coverage starting at 9:00 p.m. ET. The fight will be available via live stream at Showtime.com and through the Showtime app. They sometimes offer free trials, so be sure to check out their site to see what’s available.
Charlo has quickly worked to clean out the division following a decision loss to Tony Harrison in December 2018 that dropped him to 31-1. Charlo lost the WBC title in that fight, but after returning with a third round knockout of Jorge Cota, he beat Harrison via 11th round TKO in a December 2019 rematch. Last September, he knocked out Jeison Rosario in the 8th round to add the WBA, IBF, and The Ring titles to his collection.
Castano enters the fight with a record of 18-0-1. He won the WBA interim title in November 2016 but was stripped of it in 2019 when he did not fight mandatory challenger Michael Soro. He returned this past February to defeat Patrick Teixeira for the WBO title. He will put that title up against Charlo’s WBC, WBA, IBF, and The Ring titles to determine the undisputed champion of the decision.
