Saquon Barkley’s ACL recovery without a definitive timetable

Will Saquon Barkley be a full-go in Week 1? Maybe, maybe not.

When asked if he would be available for the first day of training camp, New York Giants starting running back Saquon Barkley couldn’t give a definitive answer, per The Rich Eisen Show. “I don’t know. We’ll see. Taking it day by day. Just listening to my body. Whenever I’m able to get out there, just make sure I’m 110 percent. Not just for ... my well-being, but just so I go out there and compete at a high level and show the world who Saquon is.”

Barkley tore his ACL back in Week 2 of last season, but the Giants have said all along they will take it slow with their star running back in his recovery. They added Devontae Booker and Corey Clement this offseason and both will likely see elevated work while Barkley gets back to his old self.

So far there have been no setbacks to his recovery, so extra caution and setting expectations appear to be the goal right now for the Giants. But unless we hear of a setback, Barkley should remian a top draft pick in fantasy even if he’s eased into the season.
