Breaking down the cut line for the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic

The Rocket Mortgage Classic has entered day 2. We break down where the cut line stands throughout the day.

Who should you fade this week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic?

The PGA Tour teed off the second round of the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic on Friday and some big names are struggling. Bryson DeChambeau finished his second round at -1, Brian Gay is sitting at +2 early in the round, and Phil Mickelson is at -2 and tied for 66th at the beginning of the round.

The first trios teed off on Friday at 6:45 a.m. ET and the final groups will be on the course at 2 p.m. ET. There’s a long way to go before we find out what the weekend field looks like for the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

How is the cut line determined?

The cut line at 36 holes is the top 65 players plus those tied at the end of that group. Some tournaments will have a second cut after day three (54 holes) if that initial group is 78 total players, but this is not one of those tournaments.

What is the cut line for the Rocket Mortgage Classic?

As of 3:30 p.m., the projected cut sits at -3. There are 19 golfers sitting at -3 and 15 at -2. Patrick Reed looks to be on the good side at -3 after his round.

Who is not projected to make the cut?

Dylan Frittelli (-2), DeChambeau (-1), Brian Gay (+3) are all on the wrong side of the cut. K.H. Lee and Martin Laird are both at -2 after finishing their rounds.
