Tracking MLB betting action for Tuesday, July 20th

We’re adding in all our favorite plays on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday night’s MLB slate.

Betting Miami over Washington on the moneyline

To end last week, we went 2-1 in our best bets for Saturday’s slate. The lone defeat was Mets starter pitcher Tylor Megill, who could not record more than 5.5 strikeouts (+120) against the Pirates. Megill produced a season-low 2 strikeouts in 6.0 IP. But the two wins came from the Dodgers, who scored nine runs against the Rockies. We played the Dodgers’ team total runs over 6.5 (-135). And the other win on the night was Mariners pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, who had 7 strikeouts (over 5.5 Ks at -105) in 5.0 IP.

Can we build off our Saturday’s success for today’s slate? Here we’re going to be tracking all the best MLB picks base on the odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday night’s baseball action.

MLB picks for Tuesday, July 20th — Record YTD (17-17)

James Kaprielian over 5.5 strikeouts (-110)

We are going to begin today’s small afternoon slate with a player prop from the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics game. If you’ve been following along with my picks this year, you might’ve noticed that I play either Chris Bassitt or James Kaprielian’s strikeout props a lot.

Kaprielian will going up against the Angels for the first time this season this afternoon. The rookie pitcher has a 4-3 record, 2.90 ERA, and 66 strikeouts in 62.0 IP. The 27-year-old has gone over 5.5 strikeouts in 7 out of 11 starts this season, which includes 2 out of his 3 starts. In his last four home outings, Kaprielian is averaging 6.75 strikeouts per game. The Angels’ offense is averaging 8.60 strikeouts per game in 2021, but only 8.18 strikeouts per game on the road.

Tigers (-130) vs. Rangers

If you are looking for a solid moneyline play from tonight’s slate, look no further than the streaking Detroit Tigers. Despite being seven games under .500, the Tigers have won four straight games, where they outscored their opponents 27-4.

Detroit will have Tarik Skubal on the mound, who has a 5-8 record and 4.36 ERA in 18 games (16 starts) in 2021. However, he has pitched better at home with a 3.72 ERA and .250 opponents batting average at the plate. The Tigers are 3-1 in Skubal’s last four outings at Comerica Park. Detroit should also be able to put up some runs on Rangers pitcher Dane Dunning. The 26-year-old pitcher has not done well on the road with a 0-4 record and 6.55 ERA in 8 starts. The Rangers are 1-7 in his eight road starts. Roll with the Tigers from the Motor City!

White Sox F5 ML (-125) vs. Twins

The White Sox are -145 favorites on the moneyline against the Twins tonight, but for some that might be too high of a price to pay with Dallas Keuchel on the mound. Therefore, the next best play might be White Sox first 5 moneyline, which is currently at -125 odds.

Chicago will be going up against Twins pitcher Bailey Ober, who they’ve faced three times already this season. In three starts against the White Sox, Ober has a 1-1 record, an ERA of 6.57, but an opponents batting average of .224. His lone loss came on the road against the Sox, where Ober surrendered 5 earned runs, 4 hits (3 hits) in only 3.1 IP. Chicago went on to win 13-3. The 26-year-old has only pitched 5 innings or more twice this season out of his 8 total starts in 2021. I like the White Sox to jump out on Ober after only coming away with a split on Monday.
