Tonight’s edition of Friday Night Smackdown on Fox will be an intriguing one as it’ll emanate from two locations. The primary show will be held at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland while two matches are set to take place at the Rolling Loud hip hop festival in Miami. A portion of the festival stage did indeed collapse on Thursday but Rolling Loud officials indicated that it will be fixed and functioning by the time tonight’s dual-cast begins.
How to watch
Date: Friday, July 23
Time: 8 p.m. ET
Network: Fox
Live stream: FOX.com/live or Fox Now App
The Rolling Loud portion of the show will feature two matches, one being Smackdown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair once again defending her title against Carmella and the other being 2021 Men’s Money in the Bank winner Big E facing Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews. It will be a good showcase for these superstars in front of a young, diverse audience in Miami and with the women’s championship match in particular, there’s a possibility we could see a surprise return of Sasha Banks.
Meanwhile in Cleveland, John Cena promised to confront WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns up front on Smackdown and the two will no doubt trade barbs to begin the build towards a main event title match at SummerSlam in Las Vegas. Adjacent to this feud is Seth Rollins, who after failing to win the Money in the Bank ladder match this past Sunday, cost Edge his opportunity to win the Universal title. We’re bound to see these two collide and build towards a SummerSlam match themselves.
Set to make her debut on this edition of Smackdown is Toni Storm, who is one of a handful of superstars who have been called up to the main roster in recent weeks. Storm is a former NXT UK champion who spent the last year on the primary NXT roster.
