Costa Rica dominated group play, winning all three matches while allowing just two goals. The most surprising aspect of Costa Rica’s performances have been that they’ve come with the team down to 10 men twice. Costa Rica cannot afford to get clumsy with Canada, a dynamic offensive unit so far in the Gold Cup.
Canada scored four goals in each of its first two group stage games before running into a defensive stalwart in the USMNT. Canada only lost that game 1-0, which should give the team confidence heading into the quarterfinal. Costa Rica is the favorite in this game, but Canada has the better offensive performance so far in the competition.
