The Denver Nuggets selected VCU G Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
The Nuggets finished third place in the Western Conference with a 47-25 record. They were solid all season long especially after picking up Aaron Gordon at the trade deadline. Soon after his arrival, Jamal Murray suffered a season-ending ACL tear that ended up being a detriment to the Nuggets. They still stayed relatively competitive through the rest of the season and even made it past the Blazers in the first round, but ultimately got swept by the Suns in the conference semifinals. Murray is set to miss the start of the 2021-22 season as well as he’ll be on the tail end of his ACL recovery.
The Nugs are in a good spot for next season as many of their big players are still under contract, including last season’s MVP Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and Michael Porter Jr, so they’ll have a great core to build on ahead of next season.
Denver Nuggets 2021 NBA Draft picks
No. 26, first round: Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland, G, VCU
Fantasy basketball outlook
Nah’Shon Hyland — Hyland is a strong three-point shooter and will get a lot of opportunities in a system with plenty of stars. The VCU product will get some time to develop behind the scenes while providing immediate contributions with his perimeter shot for a contender. Hyland will have good value in DFS formats and should be one of the better three-point shooters next season given his ability and the players he’ll be around.
