Megan Rapinoe made no mistake from the penalty spot.

The veteran USWNT star converted her shot to give USA a 4-2 win over Netherlands in the penalty shootout after a 2-2 tie through extra time. Rose Lavelle, Alex Morgan and Christen Press also made their respective kicks and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher stopped two shots, including Vivianne Miedema’s first kick of the shootout.

Miedema had scored twice in the game for Netherlands, who entered the contest as slight underdogs despite racking up an impressive goal tally through the group stage. USA had struggled in group play, grabbing a win, a loss and a 0-0 draw to advance to the knockout round on goal differential.

Sam Mewis and Lynn Williams were the scorers for the Americans, but they got subbed off for Lavelle and Press in the second half. USA only managed four shots on target during the match, but made no mistakes in the shootout to take the win.

USA wins the rematch of the 2019 World Cup final and will now face North American rival Canada after it upset Brazil in a penalty shootout in the quarterfinal round.
