Tracking MLB betting action for Tuesday, July 6th

We’re adding in all our favorite plays on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday night’s MLB slate.

We are looking to have a better start to the week after beginning the Fourth of the July weekend with more bad beats. In case you missed it, the White Sox (-121) lost 11-5 to the Tigers on Saturday afternoon. The Rays (+100) also lost on Saturday 6-3 to the Blue Jays, which gave them their 10th straight road defeat. Then when it came to the pitching props, Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara only recorded four strikeouts against the Braves, falling short of over 5.5 strikeouts (-114). Finally, Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw didn’t get over 7.5 strikeouts (+110) as his last start ended early due to a delay.

Here we’re going to be tracking all the best MLB picks base on the odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook for Tuesday night’s baseball action.

MLB picks for Tuesday, July 6th — Record YTD (7-10)

Ian Anderson over 5.5 strikeouts (+130)

The Braves are looking to rebound from a tough 11-1 series opening loss to the Pirates on Monday night. Atlanta did not receive a great start from starter Max Fried, who gave up 6 earned runs, 7 hits (1 HR), and 2 walks in 5.0 IP. They will now give the ball to their ace in 23-year-old Ian Anderson, who has been one of their most consistent pitchers this season.

Anderson has gone over 5.5 strikeouts in 9 out of 16 starts, which includes his last road start against the Cincinnati Reds, where he had 9 strikeouts in 6.0 IP. This will be the second time that Anderson has faced the Pirates this season. His first outing against Pittsburgh came on May 21, where the Braves won 20-1 at Truist Park. Anderson had 6 strikeouts in 6.0 IP. In his last five road starts, the NL Rookie of the Year candidate has gone over 5.5 strikeouts twice.

Mariners F5 ML (+128) vs. Yankees

If you don’t feel comfortable with taking the Mariners straight up on the moneyline at +130 odds against the Yankees, then the next best play is the first five inning line. Heading into tonight’s game, neither Yankees starter Jameson Taillon or Mariners starter Justus Sheffield has been great this season. It’s one of the main reasons why DraftKings Sportsbook has the run total currently listed at 9.5.

Taillon has been downright awful on the road this season with a 0-3 record and 11.12 ERA in five starts. Meanwhile, Sheffield has a 5.11 ERA at home this season but has allowed 6 HRs in seven outings. That being said, this play is strictly against Taillon, who has only pitched 0.1, 4.1, and 4.2 IP in his last three road starts. If he gets the hook early, then the Yankees have a solid enough bullpen to hold things down. Despite that, I like the Mariners’ chances of at least holding the lead. Seattle is scoring 5.6 runs per game in their last five contests.

Chris Bassitt over 4.5 strikeouts (-134)

I understand there’s a ton of juice on Bassitt’s strikeout prop, but he’s been very good for the Athletics this season. Oakland’s ace has a 9-2 record and 3.04 ERA in 17 starts in 2021. Bassitt has also been a phenomenal pitcher on the road this season, with a perfect 5-0 record and 3.52 ERA.

That being said, the 32-year-old pitcher will be going up an Astros’ lineup that has a good mixture of contact and power hitters. In his lone start against Houston, he’s only recorded 3 strikeouts in 5.1 IP on Opening Day. The A’s went on to lose that game 8-1. But since then, he has gone over 4.5 strikeouts in five out of his last six starts, which includes 3 out of his last 5 road starts. The Astros are one of the best teams in not striking out at 7.32 per game, but they are averaging 8.67 strikeouts in their last three games.
