After back-to-back winless outings, we finally got back into the win column for our best bets Tuesday night. Our lone win was Chris Bassitt, who racked up six strikeouts in 4.1 IP, meaning he went over 4.5 strikeouts (-134). Coincidentally, after Bassitt cleared his prop total, the A’s starter got rocked by the Astros’ offense for six runs. However, we had bad beats on Braves starter Ian Anderson over 5.5 strikeouts (+130) and Seattle F5 ML (+128). Anderson had four strikeouts in 5.0 IP, while the Mariners were down 9-0 to the Yankees going into the sixth inning.
That being said, can we pick up a couple of wins on tonight’s slate? Here we’re going to be tracking all the best MLB picks base on the odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook for Wednesday night’s baseball action.
MLB picks for Wednesday, July 7th
Rangers (-152) vs. Tigers
We are going to start off Wednesday’s slate with a moneyline afternoon play between the Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers. The Rangers snapped their two-game skid with a 10-5 win on Tuesday night. Texas will now turn the ball over to their ace in Kyle Gibson, who has been stellar on the mound this season. Gibson is 6-0 with an ERA of 1.98 in 16 starts. The 33-year-old starter should be able slowdown a Tigers’ offense that is averaging 6.2 runs in their last five games. Gibson has been one of the best pitchers at home with a 5-0 record, 1.09 ERA, and .184 opponents batting average.
The Rangers have a record of 8-0 this season at Globe Life Field with Gibson on the mound. Meanwhile, Tigers’ starter Casey Mize has been solid on the road with a 3.18 ERA, but has allowed 9 HRs. Mize will have to be mindful of where of pitch location as both Adolis Garcia and Joey Gallo can change the game with one swing.
Corbin Burnes over 7.5 strikeouts (+125)
The last time we played a Corbin Burnes strikeout prop, it didn’t end well for us as he failed to go over 7.5 strikeouts and finished with five strikeouts against the Pirates. That being said, we are going to go back to the well with Burnes, who will start Game 1 of a doubleheader against the New York Mets.
Burnes, who started off the season on fire, cooled a little bit after a stint on IL due to COVID-19. However, he is still 4-4 with an ERA of 2.41 and 120 strikeouts. Burnes has gone over 7.5 strikeouts in 9 out of 14 starts this season, but the last time he did this was on June 12 at home against the Pirates. This season on the road, the 26-year-old pitcher is averaging 7.8 strikeouts per game. He’ll be facing a Mets’ offense that is averaging 8.69 strikeouts per game and 8.42 strikeouts per game at home.
