The Zach Wilson era with the New York Jets is set to begin as the No. 2 pick of the NFL Draft is the unquestioned starter in 2021. The Jets do not have much in terms of a reliable backup, so this was his team the second his name was announced during the draft. Sam Darnold was not exactly set up for success in this offense, which still needs plenty of work, though the organization brought in a play maker at the wide receiver position to make life easier for Wilson in Year 1.
3800.5 passing yards: Over (-115) or Under (-115)
Our pick: Under
The Jets quarterbacks Darnold and Joe Flacco threw for just 3,072 passing yards in 2020. New York brought in former Tennessee Titans receiver Corey Davis and will bring back Jamison Crowder. New York has a few talented young pass catchers with second-year wideout Denzel Mims and rookie second-round pick Elijah Moore. It will take some time for Wilson to develop chemistry with the pass catchers on the roster, so we’re going with the under yardage total.
21.5 passing TDs: Over (-115) or Under (-115)
Our pick: Over
New York quarterbacks threw for 15 touchdowns last season, and that’s a number that should increase significantly under Wilson, so we’re going to go with the over. While it is difficult to know what to expect from a rookie quarterback especially throwing to relatively new pass catchers, but 21.5 isn’t a high number of touchdown throws for a guaranteed starter so Wilson should surpass this total. He has some talented players to throw to, and we’re pretty confident in this one.
