The Las Vegas Raiders No. 1 receiving target, Darren Waller, hasn’t been at practice for eight straight days, per ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez. Head coach Jon Gruden hasn’t said the reason behind Waller’s absence, but beat reporters have seen the tight end working out in the weight room. At this point there isn’t anything to go on and Waller is a veteran who can get away with missing practice, but it would be nice to understand the reasoning behind his absence.
At this point I wouldn’t think there’s any reason to push him down your fantasy draft boards, but it will be hard not to have his absences in the back of your mind if you are doing a best ball draft today. Backup tight end Foster Monreau has shown ability and would be a good fantasy grab if Waller were to ever miss time, but for now I think we should take a wait to see approach.
