We have a 16-game slate in the majors Wednesday, beginning at 1:10 p.m. ET. There are a lot good matchups happening across the league that will feature a ton of betting implications.
We started off the week with a 1-1 split for our best bets on Tuesday night. Our lone loss was the only strikeout prop we played, which was Sean Manaea over 5.5 strikeouts (-105) against the Cleveland Indians. Surprisingly, this player prop was +105 just minutes before first pitch, but it was too good to be true.
The 29-year-old pitcher for the Athletics struggled on the mound, throwing 69 pitches and gave up 3 walks, 5 hits, and 3 earned runs in only 1.2 IP. For what its worth, Manaea did have 2 strikeouts, but he just wasn’t able to find the strike zone consistently Tuesday night. But thankfully, we did have one winning bet with the Detroit Tigers defeating the Baltimore Orioles 9-4. This game like many others on the east coast featured a rain delay, but that did not slow down the Tigers’ offense, which had 11 hits and was 5-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
Here we’re going to be tracking all the best MLB picks base on the odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook for Wednesday’s baseball action.
MLB picks for Wednesday, August 11th
White Sox -1.5 vs. Twins (-115)
For our first best bet today, we are going to opt to play the White Sox’s run line — instead of the moneyline which is at -170 — with AL Cy Young candidate Lance Lynn on the mound. The Sox are looking to wrap-up their season series against the Minnesota Twins on a good note, after losing 4-3 on Tuesday night.
Despite the loss, the White Sox have won 4 out of 5 last games by average of 5.5 runs per game in those victories. Chicago has outscored their opponents by 18 runs in their last 10 games and have beat the Twins by 1.5 runs or more in 3 out of their last 5 meetings.
The Sox should not have no problem with Lynn on the mound, who is 4-1 with a 2.47 ERA on the road this season. He also owns a 1.50 ERA in 4 starts against Minnesota this season. Chicago’s offense is 5.6 runs per game in Lynn’s last 5 road starts and should be to score some runs on Minnesota’s Bailey Ober, who has an ERA of 5.33 at home this season and an ERA of 6.23 against the White Sox.
Kevin Gausman over 6.5 strikeouts (-115) vs. Diamondbacks
Despite our Sean Manaea strikeout prop play not working out in our favor, we’re going to get back on the player prop train with San Francisco Giants ace Kevin Gausman. Gausman, who was named to the MLB All-Star Game, has been one of the best pitchers in the NL and is a candidate for the NL Cy Young award.
The 30-year-old starter has a 10-3 record, 2.31 ERA, and a ridiculous 157 strikeouts in 132.1 IP. Gausman has gone over 6.5 strikeouts in 13 out of 22 starts this season, which includes 3 out of his last 5 starts. In his last 5 home outings, Gausman is averaging 6.8 strikeouts per game. It will also be the fourth time that he is facing the Diamondbacks this season. In his three previous outings, Gausman has gone over 6.5 Ks twice, coincidentally both at Arizona.
