New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters on Thursday afternoon rookie wide receiver Elijah Moore is being evaluated for a quad injury and is getting an MRI, per Connor Hughes of The Athletic. Saleh added that there’s a chance the rookie wideout does not play in the team’s preseason opener on Saturday against the New York Giants.
New York is hoping that Moore’s quad injury is not too serious as he’s been a standout star at camp and developing a chemistry with rookie quarterback Zach Wilson. The former Ole Miss standout is a part of Jets’ wide receiver core that could use an explosive playmaker to pair next to veteran wide receiver Jamison Crowder and second-year wideout Denzel Mims, who missed most of the Jets’ offseason program reportedly due to food poisoning. Moore has +2500 odds to win Offensive Rookie of the Year this season, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
