We have a 16-game slate in the majors Saturday, beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET. There are a lot good matchups happening across the league that will feature a ton of betting implications.

Friday night in the majors was not good to us as we went 0-2 on our best bets and it was not even close with our losses. To start off the night, Chicago Cubs pitcher Adbert Alzozay could not make it out of the second inning against the Miami Marlins. The best bet was over 5.5 strikeouts (-110), but he only recorded 1 strikeout and allowed 6 ER in 1.1 IP. The Cubs lost that game 14-10, thanks to a 11-run second inning by the Marlins.

Our second losing bet was the Oakland Athletics -1.5 (-105), who saw their seven-game win streak snapped by the Texas Rangers. The Rangers defeated the Athletics’ 8-6 Friday night. Also, with the win, the Rangers snapped their five-game losing skid to Oakland. But despite, the defeat, the Athletics are overwhelming favorites on the moneyline (-220) against Texas on Saturday.

Here we’re going to be tracking all the best MLB picks base on the odds and lines on DraftKings Sportsbook for Saturday’s baseball action.

MLB picks for Saturday, August 14th

Marlins (-150) vs. Cubs

Usually, I do not like playing the moneyline in baseball when it is at -150 or higher. However, this particular game will be the exception to the rule as the Cubs have lost nine consecutive games, while the Marlins have two-straight games. Miami defeated Chicago 14-10 on Friday night, after scoring an incredible 11 runs in the second inning.

Surprisingly, the Marlins have owned the season series against the Cubs, which currently stands at 3-1. Miami should not have any problems with Chicago starter Zach Davies, who has given up 7 earned runs in back-to-back outings. This season, Davies is 2-4 with an ERA of 5.36 through 11 starts. The 28-year-old pitcher faced Miami on June 18 at Wrigley Field, where Davies allowed 8 earned runs (2 HRs), 7 hits, in 6.0 IP. The Cubs went on to lose that game 10-2. The Marlins will have Zach Thompson on the mound, who is 2-5 with a 3.09 ERA, but has pitched well at home — 2-2, 2.45 ERA in five starts. Back the Fish to take it to the Cubbies.
