We have a 16-game schedule in the majors on Saturday, which means there are multiple opportunities to come away with a win in DraftKings baseball DFS. The main slate has 10 games starting at 7:05 p.m. ET.
Sometimes with a plus-matchup on the MLB game slate, we get an opportunity to slot multiple players from the same team into our DFS lineups. You can learn more about MLB DFS strategy, including team stacks, here.
Here, we’ll break down three of the best team stacks for the MLB slate on Saturday, August 14th.
Cardinals vs. Royals, 7:10 p.m. ET
Nolan Arenado ($4,800)
Paul Goldschmidt ($4,500)
Tyler O’Neill ($3,300)
Tommy Edman ($3,000)
For Friday night’s main slate, we targeted the St. Louis Cardinals as one of our team stacks and it paid off. The Cardinals’ stack of Yadier Molina, Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Paul DeJong combined for 45 fantasy points against Mike Minor. We are going to go back to the Cards, who will be going up against Royals starter Brad Keller Saturday night. Keller has struggled a ton this season with a 7-11 record and 5.79 ERA. However, the 28-year-old’s ERA has risen at home to 6.33 in 10 starts at Kaufmann Stadium.
Keller just faced the Cardinals last Saturday, where he allowed 7 hits, 5 earned runs (1 HR), and 5 walks in 5.0 IP. St. Louis OF Tommy Edman is a solid value play for this stack as he’s recorded a hit in 3 out of his last 4 games and averaging 8.0 FPPG.
Athletics vs. Rangers, 7:05 p.m. ET
Starling Marte ($6,000)
Mark Canha ($4,300)
Sean Murphy ($4,000)
Elvis Andrus ($3,100)
For our second team stack, we are going to roll with the Oakland Athletics, who had their seven-game winning streak snapped by the Texas Rangers on Friday night. However, the A’s should be able to get back into the win column against Rangers starter Jordan Lyles.
Lyles has not pitched well this season with a 5-9 record and 5.46 ERA through 23 games (22 starts). In 11 games at Globe Life Field, the 30-year-old starting pitcher has a 3-2 record and 5.04 ERA. Lyles has a skyrocketing 9.82 ERA through two starts this month, which does not bode well.
Rockies vs. Giants, 9:05 p.m. ET
Brandon Crawford ($4,100)
Buster Posey ($3,900)
Wilmer Flores (3,500)
Austin Slater ($2,500)
The San Francisco Giants will be our last team stack for tonight’s main slate. The Giants have won six consecutive games and averaging 6.83 runs per game over that time. San Fran will try to keep that momentum going against Rockies starter Kyle Freeland. The 28-year-old pitcher has not won a single game yet on the road with a record 0-4 and 4.50 ERA in seven starts.
Shortstop Brandon Crawford, who just signed an extension with the Giants earlier this week, is the highest valued player for this stack. But All-star catcher Buster Posey may be the best value play. In his last five games, Posey is averaging 13.6 FPPG and has recorded two home runs and six runs scored.
