The NASCAR Cup Series is headed back to Indianapolis for its August 15th race, but this one comes with a change. Traditionally, the Cup Series has run the Brickyard 400 for this race. This year, they’re moving from the oval track to the road course and running the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard.
The race gets started at 1:00 p.m. ET and will air on NBC. It is preceded by qualifying at 9 a.m., which will air on CNBC. Both events will be available via live stream at NBC Sports and through the NBC Sports mobile app. You will need a cable log-in to stream both events, so if you don’t have one, you can get a trial from YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, AT&T TV Now, FuboTV, or Sling TV to stream the day’s festivities.
This is one of only eight tracks where NASCAR is running pre-race qualifying. The first driver will run a single lap at 9 a.m. and then each driver on the entry list will follow. The fastest lap will claim the pole position and the slowest will start in the rear. If a driver changes cars after qualifying but before the race, they will be moved to the back of the lineup.
Headed into Saturday morning qualifying, Chase Elliott is the favorite to win at DraftKings Sportsbook, installed at +200. He’s followed by Kyle Larson (+350), Martin Truex, Jr. (+600), Kyle Busch (+900), and Denny Hamlin (+1200).
