NASCAR is running the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard Sunday afternoon and Hendrick Motorsports driver William Byron has claimed pole position in morning qualifying. Chase Briscoe will join him on the front row, and they’ll be followed by Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson in the second row.
This was the first pre-race qualifying NASCAR has held since the July 4th weekend, and the Indianapolis road course is one of only eight tracks that will have such qualifying this season.
Race odds are settling with less than two hours remaining until the 1 p.m. ET drop of the green flag. Elliott opened the week as a +200 favorite to win the race, with Larson following him at +350, Martin Truex, Jr. at +600, and Kyle Busch at +900. Over the course of the week, Elliott’s odds at DraftKings Sportsbook moved to +220 and Truex’s odds improved to +550.
Following qualifying, the top of the odds board remains the same. Elliott, Larson, Truex, and Busch have the four best odds to win. However, Byron has made a significant move thanks to his strong qualifying run. Byron opened the week at +2000 but now sits at +1000, the fifth best odds to win the race. Briscoe also improved from +3500 to +2000.
