The Memphis Grizzlies are trading Patrick Beverley to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez, according to Adrian Wojnarowoski. This is the second time Beverley has been traded in two days, previously coming to the Grizzlies from the Los Angeles Clippers in a deal involving Eric Bledsoe.
The Grizzlies get significantly younger with the additions of Culver and Hernangomez, who will both be rotation players for that team. Beverley, according to Woj, is being brought in to help mentor Minnesota’s core of D’Angelo Russell, Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards.
The Timberwolves underwent an ownership change this offseason and will hope to make the playoffs with their young group, while the Grizzlies will try to build on a postseason trip through the play-in tournament. The surprise here is Minnesota’s inclusion of Culver, a former lottery pick who is only 22. He could be a vital two-way contributor for Memphis alongside Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks.
