Tracking MLB betting action for Monday, August 2nd

About half of the MLB teams are scheduled to take the field on Monday, August 2nd with eight games including one in the afternoon with the rest taking place in the nightcap. Plenty of teams have the day off, but there are still plenty of opportunities for bettors to make some money on Monday.

MLB picks for Monday, August 2nd

Indians ML (+220) vs. Blue Jays

The Cleveland Indians are significant underdogs heading into Monday night’s game, and the odds have gone down so much that they are worth the risk in this spot. They will start with Eli Morgan on the mound, who has a 7.47 ERA but has pitched fine recently. He allowed just three runs in each of his last three starts, and Cleveland will have a decent shot to win if he throws like that, and it’s worth it with these odds.

Pirates vs. Brewers O8.5 (-115)

The Milwaukee Brewers have come out of the All-Star Break red hot, and the offense has really come alive. Milwaukee scored at least six runs in nine of the 14 games since the break, and they should have success against Pirates starter Bryse Wilson, who has not pitched in the majors since May 22nd and last threw for the Atlanta Braves. In his last time out, Brewers starter Eric Lauer allowed one run on three innings in a win over the Pirates.

Chris Flexen U4.5 (-125)

The Tampa Bay Rays lead the majors in total strikeouts this season, but we’re still betting against Seattle Mariners starter Chris Flexen reaches this total on Monday night. In the previous three starts, Flexen has a combined six strikeouts over a combined 16.1 innings of work.

Angels U3.5 runs (+110)

The Los Angeles Angels are really struggling offensively, and getting plus value on their run total is fantastic. Los Angeles scored four runs combined in their last four games, and they will go up against Texas Rangers starter Dane Dunning. He will enter with a 4.20 ERA and has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his last six starts.
