Why Derrick Henry will go OVER or UNDER rushing yards, TDs totals for 2021 NFL season

After rushing for more than 2,000 yards in 2020, Derrick Henry and the Titans face an uphill battle to stave off regression.

Will Derrick Henry break the Single-Season Rushing Yards record?

The NFL’s reigning rushing king and newest member of the 2,000-rushing-yard club, Derrick Henry occupies a unique place in the current NFL landscape. The All-Pro running back looks and performs differently than his contemporaries, and he gives the Tennessee Titans their identity on offense.

Here, we take a look at the prop bets on the table for Henry on DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the 2021 NFL season and make our picks.

1555.5 rushing yards: Over (+100) or Under (-130)

Our pick: Under

The Titans still plan to feed Henry more often than any other running back in the league. However, even a massive human like Henry, who has racked up more carries than anyone over the past two seasons, has limits. And while he rushed for more than 2,000 yards in 2020, the track record for running backs in the season directly following a 2,000-yard campaign looks extremely troubling. Henry might not break down physically like some of his 2K predecessors, but his efficiency will most likely take a huge hit.

13.5 rushing touchdowns: Over (-115) or Under (-115)

Our pick: Under

Even with an extra game on the schedule in 2021, recording more than 13 touchdowns seems like a precarious bet for any running back, even one with Henry’s robust track record. The Titans offense returns most of its key pieces of its running game, but offensive coordinator Arthur Smith no longer directs the show. The Titans will have a difficult time replicating their efficiency from the past two seasons, and Henry can only do so much by himself.
