Race day update: In a big change, Chase Elliott and Christopher Bell will have to move to the rear of the starting lineup when the race gets going, per NASCAR. Elliott’s car failed pre-race inspection twice on Sunday due to violating rules regarding rear-window air deflectors. He was set to start 11th. Bell’s car received the same penalty and will move back after a planned start in the 7th position. Both of their crew chiefs have been ejected for the race. Elliott remains a +200 favorite to win the race at DraftKings Sportsbook.
The NASCAR Cup Series will head to New York this weekend for the 2021 Go Bowling at the Glen race at the Watkins Glen International. The race is scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 p.m. ET. It will be televised on NBC Sports Network and streamed on NBCSports.com/live.
The 2021 Go Blowing at the Glen race is back at Watkins Glen after it was canceled last year due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic. However, Chase Elliott won the previous two years races. Elliott has won two races this year and enters Sunday’s race with the best odds to win it +200, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Along with Elliott, Kyle Larson has the second-best odds to win on Sunday at +450 and to finish inside the top-3 at +125. Martin Truex Jr. has the third-best odds to win at +600, while Kurt Busch has +750 odds to capture the checkered flag. Brad Keselowski, who is the pole leader for Sunday’s race, has long shot odds to win it at +3000.
The lineup was determined with a performance-metric formula instead of traditional qualifying. The metric is split into 25 percent from a driver’s previous race finishing position, 25 percent from the car owner’s previous race finishing position, 35 percent comes from the team owner’s points ranking, and 15 percent comes from the previous race fastest lap.
Here is the full lineup for Sunday’s 2021 Go Bowling at the Glen at the Watkins Glen International road course.
