Paris Saint-Germain has reached a two-year agreement with Lionel Messi, according to multiple media reports. The Argentina and Barcelona legend had reportedly agreed to a contract to stay with the Catalan club, but La Liga could not fit the contract into its existing structure. Barcelona announced Messi would not play for the club and PSG swooped in to land arguably the best player in the world.

The move is already paying off for PSG at DraftKings Sportsbook when it comes to Champions League title odds. The French giants were +600 earlier in the offseason, but have climbed to +340. This jump means PSG is essentially a co-favorite to win Europe’s top domestic competition, with Manchester City technically still the favorite at +300.

Messi’s arrival is an unexpected power move for PSG, which will deploy arguably the greatest attack ever seen. Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Angel di Maria and Messi should dominate Ligue 1 defenses.

PSG has made every move in an effort to win the Champions League. It’s the one trophy that has eluded the club. The French giants signed Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi and Georginio Wijnaldum to go with Mbappe, Neymar, di Maria, Marquinhos and Marco Verratti. Throw Messi into that mix and you’ve got arguably the best squad in the world on paper.

Messi has not won a Champions League title since 2014-15. In moving on from Barcelona, he now has his best chance in recent years to do so.
