Jacksonville Jaguars WR D.J. Chark underwent surgery for a hairline fracture in his finger, according to Adam Schefter. Head coach Urban Meyer says the wide receiver is still expected to be ready for Week 1 of the 2021-22 NFL season.
Chark broke out in his second season with the team, posting 1,008 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. He experienced a slight regression last season due to the team’s revolving door at quarterback, going for 706 yards and five touchdowns.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the over/under on receiving yards for Chark in the upcoming season is 905.5. His over/under line for receiving touchdowns is 5.5. With QB Trevor Lawrence expected to be the starter, expect Chark to garner significant targets if he stays healthy.
If Chark misses any time due to recovery, Marvin Jones Jr. and Laviska Shenault should see a boost in targets. The Jaguars also added Travis Etienne, Lawrence’s Clemson teammate, in the draft. Etienne could see targets out of the backfield as Jacksonville’s change-of-pace running back.
The Jaguars will open the season against the Houston Texans.
