Last season, a gruesome ankle fracture to quarterback Dak Prescott irreparably altered the course of the Dallas CowboysSuper Bowl hopes and derailed whatever plans Mike McCarthy set in place for his first year as the team’s head coach.

However, the outlook has shifted significantly in the time since 2020 concluded. McCarthy has confirmed that Prescott will return for the start of training camp and all the principal pieces of the offense will join him. While not the front-runner in the NFC, the Cowboys have legitimate title aspirations again.

Here, we’ll take a look at the prop bets on the table for Prescott on DraftKings Sportsbook ahead of the 2021 NFL season and make our picks.

Dak Prescott player props for 2021 NFL season

4795.5 passing yards: Over (-115) or Under (-115)

Our pick: Over

Prescott has only reached 4,000 passing yards in one of his five NFL seasons. However, that year coincided with Kellen Moore’s elevation to offensive coordinator and the installation of a more modern offense. With Moore calling plays, Prescott racked up 5,539 intended air yards, more than 1,500 more than the previous season despite attempting only 70 additional passes. With Prescott returning to health and the addition of a 17th regular-season game, the over looks like the more appealing option.

32.5 passing TDs: Over (+100) or Under (-130)

Our pick: Over

In his best season to date, Prescott averaged less than two passing touchdowns per game. Extrapolated over 17 games, he would fall short of the mark here.

However, Prescott has never played with a receiving corps as talented as the Cowboys’ current group for a full season. Additionally, Prescott’s legs vultured some touchdowns from his arm. While mobility will remain a part of his game, it stands to reason Prescott might lean more on his passing ability given the ankle fracture that ended his 2020 season.

With all those factors considered together, Prescott should set a new personal best for passing touchdowns in a season and hit the over health permitting, and he never missed a game before last year’s fluke injury.
