The Chicago Bears offense left much to be desired in 2020. However, running back David Montgomery demonstrated marked improvement over the previous season, recording his first 1,000-rushing-yard campaign despite the limited support around him. Now, as he enters his third year in the NFL, Montgomery looks to break out in a more significant way.

While Montgomery hasn’t always demonstrated the greatest efficiency as a runner, some of the blame falls to his supporting cast. The Bears’ offensive line struggled for most of the past two seasons, especially in the run game when Nick Foles replaced Mitch Trubisky under center. This offseason has seen the team make meaningful improvements to the unit and, whenever Justin Fields takes over as the starting quarterback, blocking for Montgomery shouldn’t seem quite as difficult. With a 1,070-yard season already under his belt, the third-year rusher should hit the over if he stays healthy.
