The Santa Clara Broncos enter Thursday’s tilt with the UC Irvine Anteaters having won five of their last six games, but face arguably their toughest opponent in this stretch.
UC Irvine Anteaters vs. Santa Clara Broncos (-2, 141.5)
UC Irvine already has a double-digit road win on their ledger against Oregon and a narrow three-point loss on the road to San Diego State thanks to a revamped stable of guards.
Among Division I teams, UC Irvine ranks 10th overall in 3-point shooting percentage at 40.4%, and is shooting better from distance away from home this season with a 41.7% 3-point shooting percentage.
The Broncos defense enters Thursday ranked 230th in the country in opponent 3-point shooting percentage and having allowed at least 75 points in four of their last six games.
Santa Clara will have to try to match that outside firepower with a core that ranks 165th in 3-point shooting percentage and has the task of going against an Anteaters defense that is 15th in the country in points allowed on a per possession basis away from home.
The Anteaters have already had trios pjs on the road this season and with also being ranked 11th in away from home defensive rebound rate in the country, allowing opponents a rebound on 18.5% of missed shots away from home, UC Irvine will control Thursday’s game.
