Fantasy Basketball Picks: Top DraftKings NBA DFS Lineup Strategy for Clippers vs. Suns Showdown on December 15

Mike Barner gives his top NBA lineup advice for Thursday’s fantasy basketball contest on DraftKings between the Clippers and Suns.

There will be four games in the NBA on Thursday, one of which comes with plenty of question marks when the Los Angeles Clippers host the Phoenix Suns. This matchup will also be the featured Showdown contest on DraftKings, so let’s highlight some players to consider for your entries.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Phoenix Suns

Captain’s Picks

Devin Booker ($15,600 Captain’s Pick): Booker (hamstring) is listed as questionable after missing two straight games. He did practice Wednesday, however, so he could be trending in the right direction to play. The Suns lost both games without him, so getting him back could provide the team with a significant boost. The last time he faced the Clippers, he recorded 35 points, four assists, five three-pointers and a steal across 35 minutes.

Paul George ($15,300 Captain’s Pick): The Clippers just played Wednesday, so expect Kawhi Leonard to sit out Thursday for load management. George recently returned from an injury of his own, but he did play both games of a back-to-back set since then, so he shouldn’t be a rest candidate. After shaking off a bit of rust, he has scored at least 50.8 DKFP in three of the last four games. With Leonard likely out, George should be in line for a heavy workload.

UTIL Plays

Chris Paul ($9,200): The normally efficient Paul is only shooting 36.6 percent from the field this season. The main problem has been him shooting 29.8 percent from behind the arc. Cameron Payne has been an excellent backup and fill-in starter for when Paul was hurt earlier this season, but Payne will be sidelined for this matchup because of a foot injury. To make matters worse for the Suns, Deandre Ayton ($8,800, ankle) is listed as questionable. If Booker and/or Ayton join Payne on the sidelines, Paul might be asked to carry more of the scoring load than he is accustomed to.

Nicolas Batum ($4,600): The Clippers don’t have much size up front outside of Ivica Zubac ($6,000). They could be even more compromised in that regard because Zubac left Wednesday’s game against the Timberwolves with left knee discomfort. Batum has already scored at least 25.3 DKFP in five of his last six games, and he could see added playing time if Zubac is unable to take the floor.

Bismack Biyombo ($3,400): With Ayton going down against the Rockets on Tuesday, Biyombo scored 23.0 DKFP across 22 minutes off the bench. Over five games in which he has logged at least 20 minutes this season, he has averaged 7.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocks. Ayton did not practice Wednesday, so if he does get ruled out, Biyombo becomes a great potential value play.

Reggie Jackson ($5,800): Jackson has seen his role decline this season with the addition of John Wall ($6,800) and the improved health of George and Leonard. Wall sat out for rest Wednesday, so he should be back for this matchup. Jackson is only averaging 23.0 DKFP per game for the season and his salary isn’t all that cheap, so with Wall set to play, fading Jackson might be the right play.

The statuses of Booker and Ayton could go a long way to determining the winner of this game. It looks like Booker has a better chance of the two to play, so the Suns might not be without both players. Even with that in mind, give the edge to the Clippers. The Suns are a sparkling 12-3 at home this season, but they are only 4-9 on the road.

Final Score: Clippers 108, Suns 103
