The 2019 National League Division Series brought us a pair of upsets, and so we now get the wild card Washington Nationals facing the NL Central champion St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series. The series gets going Friday evening at 8:08 p.m. at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, with the game airing on TBS. The Cardinals won the season series 5-2.
Both teams won back-and-forth divisional series that went the full five games. The Nationals beat the heavily favored Los Angeles Dodgers thanks to a three-run comeback in Game 5, capped with an extra inning grand slam by Howie Kendrick. The Cardinals went the distance with the Atlanta Braves, but there was no drama in Game 5 — the Cardinals put up a ten spot in the first inning and cruised to victory.
The Cardinals hold home field advantage in this series, but the Nationals are favored thanks to their pitching staff. DraftKings Sportsbook installed them at -125 to advance past the Cardinals, who are at +105. They aren’t huge odds, but it’s intriguing seeing the team without home field getting the favorable odds.
