New Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker informed the media on Tuesday that he will manage the American League All Star team at Dodger Stadium in July, according to beat writer Chandler Rome. He will replace A.J. Hinch, who was suspended by Major League Baseball and then fired by the Astros for his role in the sign-stealing scandal.

The All Star Game is managed by the teams that won their respective league pennants the year before. This year marks the 12th time an ASG manager will not have been managing their team the prior year. Eric Stephen went over the history of this situation, which includes six instances of a manager from the previous season’s league runner-up and five instances of a new coach on the league winner.

Baker signed a one-year contract with a second-year option after the Astros fired Hinch. Baker faces off against Washington Nationals manager Davey Martinez, who succeeded Baker as the club’s manager.
