Ty Buttrey is the third baseman for the Los Angeles Angels, and he’s one of 30 participants in MLB’s The Show 20 Players League for currently quarantined Major League Baseball players. Buttrey threw 72.9 innings last year, his second season in the big leagues, with a 3.98 ERA with 84 strikeouts and just 23 walks.
The tournament consists of a player from each of MLB’s teams playing three-inning games against each other in a 29-game regular season, with somewhere between three and five games being played a day by each of the participants.
The contest postseason is scheduled to begin April 30 with eight players qualifying for the best-of-three rounds that will be a Division Series and Championship Series, and a five-game World Series played on May 2.
