The Toronto Blue Jays face some issues as they sort out how they will start their 2020 season. Canada has been requiring out of country visitors quarantine for two weeks, but the nature of baseball would create difficulties. The Blue Jays have been working with the government on a solution, but the organization has backup plans.
The team is optimistic, according to multiple reports, but they are looking at Dunedin, Florida and Buffalo, New York as alternatives, according to MLB Network reporter Jon Heyman. They conduct spring training in Dunedin, while Buffalo is 100 miles away and home of the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.
Dunedin is an option for now, but that could change with Florida seeing a rise in Covid-19 cases. The Blue Jays shut down their facility last week, and will need to get this sorted out soon for next week’s launch of spring training. The players agreed to a July 1st report date for the start of spring training.
