Texas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo tested positive for Covid-19, according to Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. Gallo is asymptomatic, but will need to have two negative tests 24 hours apart before being allowed back to practice.
If Gallo remains asymptomatic and can get his two negative tests, he could still play on Opening Day. He would need less time to ramp up than a starting pitcher, so the just under three weeks remaining until Opening Day offers him time to get back without any problems for his fantasy baseball outlook..
Gallo missed action for much of the second half of last season. He was placed on the DL twice in the second half, once for a left oblique strain and then a broken hamate bone in his right wrist. Despite getting just 297 plate appearances in 70 games, he hit 22 home runs, 49 RBIs and an excellent .986 OPS.
