The Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday evening game against the San Francisco Giants has been postponed as a result of a growing protest movement. The two teams had been considering whether or not to play in the aftermath of the Jacob Blake shooting in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
The players’ decision comes following an afternoon of collective action across the North American professional sports landscape. The Milwaukee Bucks players elected not to play in their Game 5 against the Orlando Magic, and that led to all three Wednesday games being postponed as players elected not to play. This was followed by the Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds agreeing to postpone their Wednesday game, and the Seattle Mariners choosing to not play their game in San Diego. The WNBA postponed all three of its scheduled games and Major League Soccer postponed five of six games.
Other baseball teams have elected to move forward, although numerous players have opted to sit out. That group includes Matt Kemp, Jason Heyward, and Dexter Fowler and Jack Flaherty, among others.
