The New York Mets are reportedly in deep talks to acquire All-star shortstop Francisco Lindor from the Cleveland Indians, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. Lindor was put on the trading block this offseason as he is due to make $20 million and $21 million over the next two seasons.

Last season, Lindor hit .258 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs in the MLB’s shortened 2020 season. Passan adds that shortstop Andres Gimenez will be a key component in the trade if both teams can come to an agreement. Gimenez had a slash line of .263/.333/.398 with three home runs and 12 RBIs as a rookie last season for New York.

Along with Gimenez, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Mets’ 2019 second-round pick Ryan Wolf would also be sent to the Indians for Lindor.
