There’s 15 games on the docket Wednesday, including one double-header between the Red Sox and Twins in Minnesota, and all but two teams will be in action throughout the day, with games starting as early as 1 p.m. EST and as late as 10 p.m. EST.
We got you covered on what games you should keep an eye on during this afternoon that’s full of baseball.
Best Game To Watch: Cincinnati Reds vs San Francisco Giants
Giants pitcher Johnny Cueto is expected to get the start in this game and through two games he seems to have found his stride already. He’s pitched over 14 innings and has allowed just four earned runs and is averaging a strikeout per inning.
But he’ll be taking on a red-hot Reds lineup, which is hitting .274 and have collectively already hit 20 long balls on the short season. So this offense is sure to test Cueto.
Fantasy Spotlight: Jake Arrieta, P Chicago Cubs
Arrieta has had a good start to his 2021 campaign, going 2-0 and allowing just three earned runs in 12 innings pitched. Chicago is also taking on the Milwaukee Brewers today. The Brew Crew is struggling on offense and as a team are hitting just .199. They also have struck out 111 times, both of which are second-worst in the National League.
Rookies to Watch
Be on the lookout for Detroit Tigers slugger Akil Baddoo, who has been on fire in his short MLB career. The first pitch he saw in the Big Leagues was a home run and he followed that up with a stellar opening week.
Overall he has nine hits in his first 24 at-bats and has gone for extra bases six times. He’s also driven in 10 runs on the season already.
