Get ready for a new week of fantasy baseball. Eleven MLB games are set to take place on Monday and run from the early afternoon until late at night. The first pitch of the day is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. ET, and the final matchup of the slate will begin at 10:10 p.m. ET. Let’s go over the best games, fantasy options, and rookies to watch ahead of the action.
Best Game To Watch
The Miami Marlins and Milwaukee Brewers will face off for the first time this season on Monday, and both teams are putting stellar arms on the mound. Miami will start with 23-year-old Trevor Rogers. The left-hander boasts a 1.64 ERA. Milwaukee's Corbin Burnes is amid a career year and has even better numbers across the board. His ERA is a ridiculous .37 and he’s averaging 14.79 Ks per 9 innings. Burnes has only fallen short of 10 strikeouts in one of his four starts.
Fantasy Spotlight
The Philadelphia Phillies were crushed by the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, but have a much more ideal matchup on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Phillies have been extremely successful at the plate and only seven teams have tallied more hits this year. Adam Wainwright, 39, is out of his prime and has given up three home runs in four outings. He’s given up 12 earned runs in 19.2 innings. It’s very unlikely that he’ll go the distance against a Philadelphia team that’s top 10 in hits (159), batting average (.247), OBP (.324), and slugging percentage (.400).
Rookie to Watch
Deivi Garcia is set to make his first start of the year in the New York Yankees’ game against the Baltimore Orioles. Both American League East teams are 9-12 this season and have struggled at the plate, so New York’s 21-year-old right-hander could make some noise. He’s only made seven big league appearances, so he probably won’t be on the radar for most DFS or season-long fantasy enthusiasts. If you want to take a risk this week, the newest member of the Yankees’ six-man rotation could be a good place to start. His career WHIP (1.19) is better than league average and his development is about to be showcased for the world to see.
