Twelve games will be featured on Thursday's MLB slate. The Toronto Blue Jays and Atlanta Braves will kick off the day’s first game at 12:20 p.m. ET and the final game between the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners will begin at 10:10 p.m. ET. We’ve looked over the schedule and picked out the best game, fantasy target, and rookie to keep an eye on.
Best Game To Watch
The best pitching battle on the slate will be in the St. Louis Cardinals-Milwaukee Brewers game. The Cardinals’ Jack Flaherty leads MLB in wins and is a perfect 6-0 through seven starts. He hasn’t been one of MLB’s best when it comes to racking up Ks, but his BABIP (.240) is above average and his WHIP .94 is just as good. Burnes has come down to earth after posting an outlandish .37 ERA through his first four starts. He gave up four earned runs against the Miami Marlins his last time out but is still averaging 9.8 Ks per start. Burnes’ WHIP (.55) is hard to top, and he’s likely to have a bounce-back performance.
The Washington Nationals’ Patrick Corbin has been horrendous this year. He’s given up the second-most runs (24) in MLB despite having only pitched 29 1⁄3 innings through six appearances. He’s given up multiple home runs in half the games he’s thrown in. The Philadelphia Phillies have tallied nine or more hits in four of their last five games. Corbin has the talent to turn things around, but recent history says the odds are against him.
Rookies to Watch
The Texas Rangers’ Adolis Garcia is a threat even though his nine-game hitting streak was snapped on Tuesday. The 28-year-old outfielder is among MLB’s leaders in home runs (9), ranks fourth among American League rookies batters in hits (31), and leads league rookies in RBIs (26). He’ll get a chance to produce against
