Detroit has the second worst record in the MLB at 14-26, though they have played better recently. The Tigers lost two of three to the Chicago Cubs over the weekend but prior to that, they had a four-game winning streak going. Mize is 2-3 with a 4.19 ERA through seven starts and has completed quality starts in three consecutive appearances.
The Mariners are in third place in the National League West with a 21-20 record behind the Houston Astros and Oakland Athletics. Seattle had lost five consecutive games, but they followed that up with three straight wins. In seven starts, Kikuchi has a 1-2 record and a 4.30 ERA this season. He has at least seven strikeouts in each of his last three games and hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any of those starts.
