Pitching matchups for Sunday’s MLB games

There will be a full day of MLB action on Sunday. All 30 teams will be featured in a massive 15-game slate that will begin at 1:05 p.m. ET. If you don't want to get lost in the shuffle, there are a few interesting matchups worth taking note of. Here two of the best pitching battles to watch.

Best matchup: Trevor Rodgers vs. Max Scherzer

Rodgers is having a phenomenal year so far with the Miami Marlins. He’s 3-1 and has given up just four earned runs in 28 innings. It’s hard to get the best of the 23-year-old, and his 1.00 WHIP and 1.29 ERA show that. The young upstart will be opposite one of the game’s most consistent aces. The Washington Nationals ace has tallied at least nine Ks in three of his five starts and boasts a .93 WHIP. While Scherzer did get pounded by the Toronto Blue Jays in his last outing, he’s as capable of bouncing back as any pitcher in MLB. His BABIP is an impressive .246 and his LOB percentage Is 82.5.

Sleeper matchup: Julio Urias vs. Undecided

Urias is a perfect 3-0 for the Dodgers this year and boasts an impressive.98 WHIP. The 24-year old has given up his fair share of runs (11) this season, but has a chance to put together one of his better performances of the year against a Milwaukee Brewers team that’s in the bottom half of the league in terms of run production.
