We take a look at the games on the slate for Sunday, May 23rd in the 2021 MLB season.

There are 15 games on Sunday’s MLB slate and the action will begin with a trio of games at 1:05 ET. The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals will wrap things up with the final game of the evening, which is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. ET. Let’s go over the best games, fantasy targets, and rookies to watch.

Best Games To Watch

The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants are both 28-18 and one game back from the San Diego Padres in the uber-competitive National League West. Both teams have great pitching and a battle between Julio Urias and Anthony DeSclafani should be fun. Both sides have top-three scoring defenses and have a chance to move toward the top spot in the division with a win.

Fantasy Spotlight

The San Diego Padres’ Yu Darvish has been one of the best pitchers in the bigs this year and ranks sixth in Ks with 70 through nine starts. His BABIP (.246) and LOB% (89.1). The Seattle Mariners have the second-fewest hits (284) in MLB. He might be chalk, but he’s very likely to be one of the most productive fantasy pitchers on the slate.

Rookies to Watch

The Baltimore Orioles’ Ryan Mountcastle is turning things around and ranks fifth among American League rookies in hits with 35. He’s recorded three multi-hit games in his last five outings and could continue to strive against the Washington Nationals’ Patrick Corbin, who has a 6.10 ERA through eight starts.
