We are starting off Memorial Day weekend with a full 17-game slate Saturday, beginning at 12:05 p.m. ET. Before first pitch between the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates, we’ll take a look at the best games on the schedule, rookies to keep an eye out for, and spotlight a relevant fantasy option.
Best Games To Watch
There will be a lot of good starting pitchers on the mound over the course of the day. But the best game to watch might be between the Baltimore Orioles and Chicago White Sox at 2:10 p.m. ET. While the White Sox should win this game on paper, they will have to face O’s ace John Means, who has been one of the best pitchers this season in the majors. Means is still undefeated at 5-0 and has an ERA of 1.79 ERA. However, not all the attention will be on Means as the White Sox will have Lance Lynn on the mound. Lynn has been fantastic for the Sox, posting a 5-1 record and sub 2.00 ERA (1.51).
Furthermore, there will be three games on FOX at 7:15 p.m. ET, which includes the Atlanta Braves taking on the New York Mets and the San Francisco Giants playing the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fantasy Spotlight
With both JT Realmuto and Bryce Harper both on the 10-day injured list, first baseman Rhys Hoskins is the lone power bat in the Phillies’ lineup, but he has done a good job producing runs for battered and bruised offense. Hoskins has recorded a hit in six straight games and is hitting .368/.480/.895 with 3 HRs and 8 RBI over that span. In regards to DFS, the veteran first baseman is averaging 13.8 points per games, which is great production for a player that is usually valued under $5000.
Rookies to Watch
Marlins standout rookie pitcher Trevor Rogers will be making his first-ever start at Fenway Park against the Boston Red Sox at 4:10 p.m. ET. Rogers has been playing fantastic for a Miami rotation that is still without Sixto Sanchez, who was last season’s breakout rookie. In 10 starts this season, Rogers is 6-2 with an ERA of 1.75.
