We got some bad pitcher news on Tuesday afternoon when the New York Mets had to scratch ace Jacob deGrom from his scheduled start. The NL Cy Young frontrunner is dealing with inflammation in his lat and may need an injured list stint. That shouldn’t set him back too much in his quest for a third Cy Young award. Hell, deGrom may even have a shot at NL MVP this season.
As far as pitching matchups for Wednesday, well, there are a few strong young starters going. Ohtani will start against the Rays after being scratched on Monday from his start vs. Tyler Glasnow. The reigning AL Cy Young winner is on the hill against the surprising Royals, who entered Tuesday 16-11. Kansas City has dropped four of its past six games, so this is a spot to look for Bieber to dominate in again.
Here’s a look at the pitching matchups for Wednesday’s 16-game MLB slate on DATE.
