How to watch, what to watch for on May 7th of the 2021 MLB regular season

We take a look at the games on slate for May 7th in the 2021 MLB season.

DJ Lemahieu is the best hitter on the board

We’ve got a bunch of new series starting up to kick off the weekend in Major League Baseball. All 30 teams are in action with all but one game getting going before 7:05 p.m. ET on Friday night. Here we’ll go over the schedule and provide some more info on the slate.

Best Games To Watch

The hottest team in baseball right now is the Cleveland Indians, who begin a series against their in-state rival Cincinnati Reds. The Tribe have won three straight series, including a four-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals this week. Cleveland has shut out the opponent in two of the past five games during the streak. Meanwhile, the Reds once mighty offense only took about a month to cool off and come back down to earth. Look for the Indians’ starters not named Shane Bieber to show up this weekend.

The other interstate series is in Los Angeles, where the Dodgers are in Anaheim to take on the Angels. There’s a ton of star power in this series, including MVP candidates Mookie Betts, Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani, plus Cy Young candidates in Trevor Bauer, Walker Buehler and Clayton Kershaw. We’ll see at least Kershaw on Sunday night.

Fantasy Spotlight

The Minnesota Twins are going to get hype as a stack on Friday’s slate. Byron Buxton may be held out as he’s day-to-day with a hip strain. If Buxton is sidelined, someone has to move into the 2-hole in the lineup. Is that Jake Cave? Who is $2,100 and could get the start in place of Buxton. Or is it SS Andrelton Simmons ($3,900)? Who has been batting toward the back of the lineup.
