All 30 teams will be in action on Saturday, May 8th with a full slate of 15 MLB games from early afternoon till night. Feel free to relax as you prepare for Mother’s Day (don’t forget) and settle in to watch your favorite team for a few hours.
Best Games To Watch
How about the first game of the day? It’s not often you get to see a matchup between a pair of multiple Cy Young Award winners, but that’s what we’ll see when the Washington Nationals head play the New York Yankees at 1:05 p.m. ET. Max Scherzer will pitch for the Nationals after winning the award three times, while New York starter Corey Kluber won it twice. Both players are off to solid starts to the season, and this game can be seen on ESPN+.
Another game worthy of your attention is the Oakland Athletics hosting the Tampa Bay Rays. Oakland is currently at the top of the American League West standings, while the Rays are just 2.5 games behind the surprising Boston Red Sox for the best record in the A.L. East.
Fantasy Spotlight
From a fantasy perspective, you likely cannot go wrong going with one of the top hitters in the Arizona Diamondbacks lineup. The New York Mets are starting lefty Joey Lucchesi, who has gotten off to a rocky start. In four appearances, he has a 10.13 ERA and allowed 12 runs in 10.2 innings pitched. Carson Kelly could be a solid option from the catcher position with a .473 on-base percentage and .318 batting average with six home runs so far this season. If you’re looking for third base help in DFS, Asdrubal Cabrera would also be worth a look.
Rookies to Watch
Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Ian Anderson will get the start against the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday, and he has put in some impressive work early on. In six starts, he has a 2-1 record and a 3.27 ERA. The Phillies are in first place in the division, but they rank No. 23 in the MLB on-base percentage.
Another rookie worth looking at is Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena. His average isn’t great, but he has gotten on base at a relatively high rate and will go up against Oakland starter Frankie Montas, who has a 5.87 ERA so far this season.
