The Phils enter Saturday on a five-game winning streak after breaking out on Friday night. The Phillies beat down the Braves 12-2 with pretty much everyone in the middle of the lineup getting involved. JT Realmuto went 3-for-5 with a HR, 2 RBI and 2 runs. Zach Eflin had another strong outing, allowing 2 ER over 6.2 IP with 8 Ks. If today’s pitching matchup is any indicator, we may see a bunch of runs scored again in Game 2.
The Phils will send out Vince Velasquez, who has an ERA close to 5.00 this season. Velasquez has had issues with the long ball, allowing 5 HRs over his past 3 starts. That bodes well for NL MVP candidate Ronald Acuna Jr., who’s in a bit of a power slump to start May. Braves rookie Ian Anderson is on the mound. He had been pitching well until allowing 4 ER over 4 IP in a loss to the Blue Jays last Sunday. Anderson gives up a lot of fly balls and has some issues with control. We’ll see if that leads to another slugfest for Philly.
