We have a short 10-game slate in the majors on Thursday, beginning at 12:35 p.m. ET. Before first pitch between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates, we’ll take a look at the best games on the schedule, rookies to keep an eye out for, and spotlight a relevant fantasy option.
Best Games To Watch
Despite it being only 10 games on the schedule, there are still a few good games to check out over the course of the day. At 1:05 p.m. ET, the Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves will wrap-up their three-game set with a tremendous pitching matchup. Ian Anderson (4-3, 3.64 ERA) will be on the mound for Atlanta, while the Phillies will turn the ball over to Zack Wheeler (4-3, 2.51 ERA). Both teams are jockeying for position in the NL East standings as they chase the New York Mets.
A couple other games to check out during the night slate is the San Francisco Giants and Washington Nationals at 7:05 p.m. ET and the Houston Astros and Boston Red Sox at 7:10 p.m. ET on MLB Network.
Fantasy Spotlight
If you checked out our preview for Wednesday’s games, we highlighted Baltimore Orioles outfielder Cedric Mullins, who is having a career-year this season. However, he isn’t the only Orioles player playing well this season. First baseman Trey Mancini has done an excellent job for the O’s, hitting .281 with 11 HRs, 45 RBI and averaging 8.6 fantasy points per game in DFS. Mancini might have the flashy power numbers at first base, but he’s been consistent, which is what you want to see in fantasy baseball.
Rookies to Watch
Trevor Rogers will be back on the mound for the Marlins as they play Game 2 of their three-game set against the Colorado Rockies. The two-time National League Rookie of the Month has a 6-3 record and sub 2.00 ERA (1.97) in 12 starts. Last month, Rogers was ridiculous on the mound, posting an ERA of 2.34, despite a record of 3-2.
