Pitching matchups for MLB games on Friday, June 11th

Friday’s MLB slate features plenty of the league’s ace pitchers in action, including a tantalizing duel between San Diego Padres ace Blake Snell and New York Mets star Jacob deGrom. San Francisco Giants pitcher Kevin Gausman, who has surprised this season, is also in action. Lucas Giolito takes the mound for the Chicago White Sox. Los Angeles’ teams will send stars the mound late Friday as Shohei Ohtani and Clayton Kershaw pitch for the Angels and Dodgers respectively.

Best matchup: Blake Snell vs. Jacob deGrom

There’s no debate; this is the top matchup of Friday’s slate. Snell was famously yanked from Game 7 of the 2020 World Series and will be looking to take the Padres to that position this season. deGrom has been a star in New York, but consistently fails to get run support in his starts.

Sleeper matchup: Mike Foltynewicz vs. Clayton Kershaw

Kershaw might be the best pitcher in the league, but Foltynewicz is no pushover. He hasn’t been as effective in Texas as he was in Atlanta, but is still decent enough to put together a strong start. The Rangers aren’t likely to do much against Kershaw, but Foltynewicz can look to boost his value as a potential trade deadline target for contenders.
